Our soothing sheets and soft pillows lure us into a soporific haven of drowsiness and delight. Safe and secure, the last minute of the day is ours, as we drift off to dreamland.
To think that our beloved pooches feel any different would be insulting. After all, dog-owners are only too familiar with the gentle smile on their dog’s faces, as they drift off in search of rabbits and scented trees.
The quality of your pet’s REM sleep has a lot to do with where your dogs sleep, how safe they feel, and how comfortable they are. Research has hinted that when dogs are sleeping comfortably in their beds, they actually dream of our faces. (As if being followed around by them is not flattering enough!)
What’s so special about a Wagworld K9 Castle?
Ah yes, what’s so special about our K9 Castle indeed. To answer that, we should explain to new-comers to Wagworld what a K9 Castle is.
K9 Castle Design
Made for medium to extra-large breeds of dogs, the K9 Castle is shaped like, well, a little castle! It’s built-up, bolster sides are designed to make your dog feel safe and secure.
At the time of designing our K9 bed, we noticed that a lot of other dog beds on the market either had sides that were too hard (i.e. wicker) or too soft (foam). So, like Goldilocks seeking the sweet-spot of comfort, we designed the bolsters that make up the outer frame with a soft but sturdy stuffing. The bolster sides hold their shape and offer support and insulation.
The bolstered, canvas sides of K9 Castles make them the ideal surface where dogs can rest their heads while still surveying the goings-on.
I present to you, exhibit A …
Designed by our very own Chrissi Dickenson and team, they focussed on creating the best possible sleeping environment for dogs. But, they also made sure to include durability, along with luxury in the design specs. With plush fleece on one side for colder weather, and durable poly-cotton on the reverse for hotter weather, the washable sleeping cushion can easily be flipped over depending on the weather. The stuffing we use for both the bed frame and pillow, is made from recycled fibres.
The importance of a comfortable bed and sleep for dogs
Dogs need to spend roughly half their day (11 out of 24 hours) asleep. Typically 30 percent is spent awake but chilling, and roughly only 20 percent of their day is spent being active. Of course, all dog’s needs (sleep and otherwise) are different, and things like stress and separation anxiety can cause dogs to sleep more.
Large dogs tend to require more sleep, which might be why bigger breeds like Boerboels, Great Danes and Irish Wolfhounds find our XL K9 Castle so inviting.
But buyer beware, small cheeky breeds (we see you terriers out there 🙂 ) are known to commandeer and monopolise K9 Castles with ease.
I present to you, exhibit B.. 🙂
So next time you drift off and dream of your dog’s face, picture them in a K9 castle. For the love of your dog, durability, design, and sleep.
